Awarding Price Ceremony for the best Performance in 2009 of Water and Waste Public Companies
Today in Pristina, at the occasion ceremony, the Water and Waste Regulatory Office (WWRO) presented the Performance Annual Report for Water and Waste Service Providers of 2009 , where announced the results of performance evaluation and shared the following awards:
In this ceremony, in addition of representatives of licensed public companies attended the representatives of relevant institutions of water sectors in Kosovo as :
Laura Zherka, Adviser of the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Hajredin Kuçi.
Naser Rugova, Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture, Forestry, Rural Development and Environment and Spatial Planning.
Ramadan Sejdiu, Head of Policy and Monitoring Unit of the Public Enterprises at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF),
Husnija Beskovic, Adviser of the Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP), as well as representatives of the donors as: European Commission Liaison Office (ECLO), Swiss Cooperation Office (SCO), German Bank for Development (KfW), and representatives of the National Institute of Public Health of Kosova etc.

The Director of WWRO Mr. Raif Preteni speaking about the importance of the Annual Performance Report publishment, emphasized:
“The report provides an objective and independent annual overview of performance of Water, Sewage and Waste Companies in Kosovo, and provides reliable information to all stakeholders related to the water, sewerage and waste services, which could be useful even for other interested stakeholders that are related to these services.
Mr. Preteni referring to the goal of ranking of Waste and Water Service Public Companies states that in this way should be made the promotion of work values and high standards, and increase the efficiency of the work in these companies, and as a final goal have to increase the service quality offered to the customers.
“Unfortunately I have to stress that it is disappointing fact, that the performance in most indicators of water and waste companies has worsened during 2009, compared with 2008.The reasons for a such situation might be complex, and the same will be considered strongly in the coming months with all stakeholders involved in water and waste sector” continued Mr. Preteni.
“In this rail, the Regulator shall promote the primary and secondary legislation, the policies and methodologies of its work, insisting on applying of the best experiences of countries where we intend. In this context we will have support by the consultants of supporting project given to WWRO, respectively IPA project funded by the European Commission Liaison Office.
“I hope that the donors so far as to provide the necessary support regarding the improvement of the performance of companies. I also appreciate continued support offered by donators, and I am fully confident that the combined efforts of WWRO, MEF (Policy and Monitoring Unit of the Public Enterprises), Water Task Force, and staff of RWC will help to raise the overall performance through our regional companies” stressed Mr. Preteni, being mentioned that the monitoring of performance will stimulate competition among companies, aiming at continuous improvement of offered services.
